Not very strong but good enough IF you could actually use a banana hook when there are other items in the lower basket. There isn't enough height to actually use the banana hook unless the lower large basket is empty. Unless you need a lower overall height to fit under a countertop cabinet, I would recommend a taller combination basket. We're only keeping this because we use it under the closet. But what frustrates me is that bananas are so close to other fruits, which causes everything to ripen and rot too quickly.
