It may be an expensive dog door, but it's worth every penny. I have 5 large dogs that use it all the time. The fluff padding between the doors does not let cold air through, unlike a hinged door, which twists over time, leaving a gap. The door does not open even in strong winds. Plexiglas is easy to clean, which not only makes it look good, but also allows dogs to see through it. I bought my first one for my old house in 2001. It lasted years of heavy use and when I needed a new dog door for my new home I didn't hesitate to buy the same door. I only had one problem with my old door after a few years of very heavy use when a spring on one of the panels broke and it stopped swinging. I figured I would have to replace it. I called the manufacturer who sold me the spring pack and assured myself I could fix it myself, which I did. I loved the customer service.
