The first thing to know about this or any other SDXC flash card is that it will not run on devices released before its industry standard was approved in 2009. If you have an older electronic device that supports SD cards, your device is capped at 2GB. If you have a slightly newer device that accepts SDHC cards, the upper limit is 32GB. This or any other SDXC flash card can ONLY be used in devices that are new enough and certified for use with SDXC cards. In a suitable device, like my Acer AR3700 compact desktop PC, this card is a simple plug and play, already correctly formatted for use. Of the claimed 64 GB, 59 GB is actually available. This also applies to all cards in the SD family. The remaining disk space is used by preinstalled anti-piracy software. In terms of speed, don't expect claims of "up to 50MB/s write speed" or "up to 105MB/s read speed" in normal use. Such numbers are good for comparing different cards from the same manufacturer and sometimes comparing different manufacturers, but they are ideal and are rarely seen in the real world. For my test, I transferred my entire music library of 48.4 GB of read-only MP3 files from a 4-drive RAID10 ReadyNAS to this SDXC UHS-I flash card on my Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit system via a Gigabit Ethernet cable. PC copied and a dual-core processor Atom 525. The total time required was 151 minutes with no other active programs. Overall, that's 5.5 KB/s, which I find very acceptable. Those who need more speed can check out one of the even newer SDXC UHS-II flash cards, which pushes the theoretical read speed limit of 104MB/s for SDXC cards. up to 300MB/s. However, make sure your device has the additional memory pin required for use, which is only found in devices released in 2011 or later. Another advantage of SDXC cards is that even 64 bytes is not the limit. Centon already offers a similar 128GB SDXC UHS-I card for a good price. Expect the capacity of these cards to be up to 2TB. This is a well made card with a good 5 year warranty and free 800# support. It is made in China and assembled in the USA. Centon Electronics has been based in Southern California since 1978. I had never heard of them but would happily buy their products again. For the current price, that's a pretty good deal. Definitely recommended for use on all compatible devices when you don't need it and the device can support even more capacity and/or even higher UHS-II data rates like the new 4K video. Camera.
