Review on ๐Ÿ’ก Neewer Battery Grip Pack Replacement for Nikon D750 MB-D16 - EN-EL15 Battery Compatible by Cristina Zane

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Better and MUCH cheaper than the Nikon OEM version. Serious.

I actually bought the Nikon MB-D16 battery grip. I didn't want to pay $350 as I thought it was way overpriced but figured I'd just bite the bullet and buy the OEM version from Nikon as I wanted to avoid future failures. I previously had a Nikon D7000 and also used Nikon's OEM grip and it worked great with no hiccups but again that was ridiculously overpriced. Well, the Nikon MB-D16 I received didn't work. He accepted the battery, but the trigger on the handle was defective. Sigh. So I figured out what the heck and ordered this version of the Neewer battery grip. I only ordered the handle. Not the ones with a remote shutter release, just one handle. (I wanted the fewest number of features to reduce the chance of failure or battery drain.) To my PLEASANT surprise, it came from Prime with literally NO BADGES ON IT. That's *exactly* what I wanted. I wanted to try and remove every Neewer sticker if he had one, but I didn't even have to. Compared to Nikon's OEM version, I found the Nikon buttons to be actually too narrow. dials, everything. It took a lot of effort to turn them and the dial knob was very tight. This version by Neewer is more comfortable to use and the dials are more like the resistance of the D750 itself. The grip, ergonomics, style, etc. are exactly the same as the D750. This is a complete coincidence. Just got this and tested setting the battery up to work with the back button focus and it works great as does the Nikon version. So I saved about $300 compared to the OEM, and I honestly like the feel of the buttons/dial more on this one. It also has a metal plate in the center for tripod screws, just like Nikon's OEM version. It's not cheaper and doesn't look like it's going to wear out any faster. Not to mention that you can literally buy five of these for the same price as the Nikon version if you run into problems. I don't know the long-term reliability of this item, but so far so good. I might have to update this review in the future if this happens or whatever, but then again at this stage it feels and works even better than the MUCH more expensive Nikon version. I'm attaching some photos of the battery grip fitted to my Nikon D750 as well as a photo of the cheap/universal box this thing comes in.
