Review on πŸ”΄ HLHGR Cup Turner Foam Set: Perfect Fit for PVC Cup Turner Inserts & Various Tumbler Sizes - 8PCS by Gelin Battle

Revainrating 3 out of 5

great product if you use standard stainless steel cups

I like to recycle, so I don't always use commercially available, readily available cups, glasses, etc. from craft stores or craft stores. So I fought with soccer balls and black foam that came with my lathes. Also, I prefer black foam, but I only have one, and that's where my search began. I found them to be more durable (and they are) and could possibly solve some of my problems. They did and they didn't, hence the average rating. Firstly they are very durable and the price for what you get is great. This is by no means a negative review. I ordered and they arrived quickly and exactly as advertised. Besides that, the foam is too strong, I mean it's hard to hit some things and hard to hit the gymnast because the hole is small, which again has its pros and cons. This means it's a tight fit so nothing just slides around, you have to work, I should note my lathes are tight so I don't take the stand off. What could be the problem. So I have to build the necessary elements into the item I'm working on, sometimes with more than one, and then jog them on the lathe, which isn't that easy. It would be much easier to load them onto a turner than to put a product on them. That's not possible either, because the foam is very strong and doesn't give way very well. Which again is a plus/minus scenario. Also, it's a hard foam. So if you're using epoxy for turning and you get even the tiniest drip over the edge - and it happens, and in most cases it's unavoidable - it will stick like super glue. And again, since they don't "slip," I have to wait until the cup/item is difficult enough to manipulate before I can remove it. While I was careful with the epoxy there was a bit of bleeding and it ripped the foam and it was twice as hard to get the rest of the item due to the secondary surface sticking. So I ordered the black foam I was originally going to order and will keep them handy. Again, I do not intend to imply a negative experience, just a bit of an understanding of what you will be getting. If only they were a little more flexible. For every positive in these there is a negative and vice versa. I won't return them as I believe they will help me with other projects and even support my hobby in difficult times. Also, the little one fits in small vacuum water bottles (hard to assemble but they do) which is a big plus.

Pros
  • Easy installation
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
