Maybe my expectations were too high. The music is really in your face. I'm used to a wide soundstage. The base is lush and the highs literally shine. At times the high frequencies are hissing and unbearable on most of the songs I've played. I have a Sony XBA 3 triple armature driver which is known to have high frequencies. This Xiaomi headset has twice the noise of the xba 3. Aside from the shimmering highs, there's something wrong with the sound. I really can't tell for sure if it's middle or base. It sounded kind of anemic given the amount of base. Maybe not enough midbass? I'm spoiled with more expensive devices (xba H3, Im02, Im70, xba 3) and it's my fault for expecting too much. UPDATE: Sibilance can be tamed with compatible TSX tips. I had a pair and used them to see if they could change the high frequency. To my surprise, this is indeed the case. Please note that the Competit TSX has earwax protection.
