Variety of "soothing sounds" is good, with white noise, fan noise, forest noise, rain/water/sea sounds to play as loud as they can barely hear Loud enough to be easily heard in the next room. Each of the three groups of sounds has its own selector, so you don't have to switch between all of them if you want nature sounds instead of white noise instead of fans. The night light feature works well with color pickers, one of which is a color change and varying intensities from dull to fairly bright. The color selected will remain the default color until you change it. The "off" timer is a nice addition and ranges from 15 minutes to 2 hours. The power cord is long enough (about 6 feet) and the plug on the back of the unit snaps into place so it can't be accidentally pulled out. The only downside for me is that the built-in voice prompts are so quiet it's pretty hard to hear unless you're in a very quiet room. All in all it's not that bad, just cumbersome depending on what you want to do/configure. Recommended.
