I bought this because my ducks were always bathing in water baths and the chicks emptied their drinkers while playing. I needed a way to keep fresh water available at all times when I couldn't check it thrice a day. It's good for that. It was easy to assemble and install, it has different water level settings which I have found useful as I often have chickens running around who are at risk of drowning in deep water, it is easy to clean and deep enough for the ducks can clean it . their nostrils, but not big enough to climb up and swim. The drain function is practical and practically necessary for the daily flushing of the drinker. You definitely need this feature if you're using it on farm animals or a drooling dog. BUT I have a tiny little problem with the drain plug which has become very annoying, 19 times out of 20 I try to replace the plug in the drain, it screws in crookedly and leaks slowly (ie the water keeps running). I make a conscious effort to screw it right in and spend ten minutes each day screwing and unscrewing the drain until it FINALLY fits snugly and closes properly. Can the thread be damaged somewhere? I don't see anything wrong. All I know is that I live in the forest, we've had a lot of rain lately and we've been swamped by mosquitoes. I just want to run outside, empty and rinse the waterers, clean the drain and run home. Instead, I survived dozens of mosquito bites, all because that stupid drain plug wasn't screwed in properly the first time.
