Review on Hygger Quietest Aquarium Adjustable Powerful by Tiara Andrews

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Really good air pump

Previously I bought an Eheim Air Pump 400 and tried to run 3 sponge filters in 2 20 gallon high and 5 air grow boxes with it. It was pretty tricky and I had to spend time fine tuning every line in my gang's valves to get the water/air to where I needed it. It was quite audible too - I found it ok as I had replaced a 5 year old Tetra Whisper 20 which was rattling like crazy. I then decided on a more powerful pump and was amazed at how quiet it was. It's like I literally can't hear him until I get close, all I hear are bubbles. The thing is pretty strong too. I couldn't even use check valves on the Eheim because that would cut off the flow completely - that's not a problem with this pump. I mean to be honest the Eheim 400 is also a 4w pump compared to that 10w pump but they are on par for the price. I took it apart and found that there is an inner chamber entirely encased in steel and suspended by rubber with plenty of space around it. This, in turn, is surrounded by a thicker plastic outer shell that sits atop silicone feet/rubber feet, giving you dual cushioning. I have it on a wooden window sill, for example) so that the pump never vibrates slowly. I also like the metal air splines as they are less likely to break if you have to struggle with the air hose to get it off. Finally, the packaging is also very well done, it looks like a well designed product that you can get from a good aquarium store, not just a product straight from the factory. It's a little thicker, but I think that helps keep it quiet. The only reason I'm not giving it the full 5 stars is that there are other products that work similarly but at a significantly lower price with more accessories. Aquaneat has a 10w dual outlet pump that is $14 less and comes with group valves + check valves and is almost as good (but with less pressure, 0.03MPa instead of 0.05MPa) with less area occupied. However, I ended up going with this one because it's slightly more powerful and better built.
