Review on ☕ Technivorm KB 59691 Coffee Brewer, 40 oz, Brushed Silver by David Bott

The best coffee in the world is not a very good design

Many years ago I met Mr. Kaffee. Over the years I have had a Braun, many Krups models, a Cuisinart, a recent Bonavita which I returned due to the warm temperature of the coffee and finally a Moccamaster. Moccamaster surpasses them all in taste and hot drink. I always use freshly ground beans and bottled water for the best flavor. With hard water, using bottled water prevents frequent descaling. Moccamaster has a more fragile and smaller carafe than other brands. I haven't made more than 4 cups with it, so I can't say if the grip is as flimsy as some reviewers are reporting. I like that the tank is on one side of the machine and the debris basket is on the opposite side. This prevents coffee grounds from getting into the water and contaminating the tank. If there is debris in the tank, you can see it in the see-through tank, unlike most other coffee makers. Surely Technivorm will read some of these reviews and fix some design flaws! You need to get rid of that huge tight cord! It is heavier than the cord of my standard vacuum cleaner! I hate having power cords on my closets but there is no way to hide this one because it is not flexible enough to fold behind the car. This is very TERRIBLE. The second defective item is the basket. It's impossible to brush it because it has so many small crevices and grooves. You cannot clean it or you will damage the small rubber stopper that controls the water flow. If you hold it under even a very slow-running faucet, you'll splash water on everything, including yourself. I don't know what the reason for this design was to not make the basket look smoother. I've never seen that in any coffee machine before. The price is another factor. I don't understand why this coffee maker should cost twice as much as the heavier stainless steel model. This consists of aluminum and plastic with a thin glass carafe. Depending on how long this one lasts I will decide if I ever buy another one. If mine fails and I have as much trouble with repairs or replacements as the other reviewers, I definitely won't be buying another Moccamaster as I love the beer it makes.
