I have found this to be much better than a toothbrush for effectively cleaning and caring for small baby teeth. The reason I say this is because with a toothbrush and how naughty kids are, it's easy to get the toothbrush too far in their mouth (accidentally, of course) and silence them. This creature at my fingertip was much easier to control and still brushed my teeth for her. It's not as fun as a toothbrush they can suck on for some delicious non-toxic kid's toothpaste, so you may or may not give your child a toothbrush just to encourage morning and evening brushing habit. I find it more effective and safer to brush my teeth when it's my turn. Once they start brushing their teeth effectively, this is no longer necessary. The child also likes to chew on it a bit when teething while I try to brush my other teeth. For the price of 1.99 I bought it for, it couldn't be better.
