First, the small size is beautiful. I bought them because I wanted a detector in the basement. But since the basement is empty most of the time, I wanted to make sure we hear the warning. This is where the Wi-Fi detector came into play. I figured that even if we couldn't hear it, we would be warned on our smart devices. The connection isn't the best for WiFi in the basement. But with the added configuration option, if the device loses connection, you will also get a notification on your smart devices after several minutes that the Wi-Fi connection has been lost. So you can be sure that the device is working properly and you can feel safe knowing that you will be notified if this changes or smoke is detected. It may be small, but it's definitely not a cheap little speaker, this thing. very loud! If you're testing, be sure to let the people in your house know about your test because even the test tones are loud and someone will think there's a problem :) I hope I never have to warn, but I feel safer with Wi- Fi connection. Just an extra alarm in case we don't hear the alarm in the basement upstairs on the second floor. As for the battery life, hopefully I won't know for a while, but it can be replaced and will alert you when your smart devices are low on battery. Also. It shows the battery level in the app along with any alerts or charges in the log. I can run some tests later, when I do I will update this review.
