When opening a wine bottle, the first thing to do is remove the foil cap, and the small tool supplied is ideal for this. It fits all the bottles I've used it on (about a dozen) and cuts cleanly through the foil. After that, the opener is placed on the cork at the bottle neck and pressing the button activates the corkscrew. in traffic without chaos and fuss. The cork comes out clean and unbroken. The reversing switch pushes the cork out of the opener and that's it!
