I wanted a shaving bowl that would retain heat for a more comfortable shave. I originally had my eye on Supply's marble shaving bowl, but wanted something more striking than the boring old white. Then I came across a shasha bowl made of gray marble. The photos of the bowl they provided were certainly attractive, but what sealed the deal for me was the $17 price tag. It really made me switch to YOLO mode when I bought it. It turned out that her pictures were very representative of how the bowl looked, so I have no doubt that her other color suggestions will look right in her pictures. The color looks like a slightly bluish gray to me, and while I'm not a big fan of the branding on my products, the Shash logo isn't flashy at all, so it doesn't bother me at all. The appearance of the shell is smooth but not glossy. Despite its smoothness, the shell is easy to handle even when wet. The inside of the bowl has small grooves carved into the bottom and a slightly rough texture on the insides. These two properties make the shaving cream I use (Taylor's Sandalwood Cream from Old Bond Street) easier to lather. The internal texturing didn't seem to do any harm to the synthetic shaving brush I use (RazoRock Plissoft). since i have only used the cup for one shave so far, i have to keep an eye on it. There's some weight to this thing, and as you'll find in almost every marble shaving bowl review, you don't want to drop this pup on your vulnerable toes. If someone breaks into your house while you're shaving, at least you have something to hit the attacker with. In terms of keeping warm, the thing works great. I pour hot water over the bowl, then fill it with hot water and leave it there while I shower. After I shower, I soak the entire bowl in hot water again and then proceed with standard shaving procedures. I usually do two passes, then a touch up pass. My second pass feels just as warm as the first, while my retouch pass gets noticeably colder but still feels warm. Heck, that bowl was still radiating heat about fifteen minutes after the hot rinse. The only downside I had with this bowl was that marble particles were still coming loose where they cut out the inside, but that was an easy fix. with some water scrubs and an unused shaving brush. As mentioned, I've only used the bowl once, and while I'm not a huge fan of instant, not long-term, reviews, I don't see anything drastic with the damn thing. Come on, it's just a marble bowl. But if something remarkable happens, I'll try not to be lazy and update my review. Lastly, the bowl has taken on a light scent of my shaving cream that lingers a week after shaving, which I consider a positive. Anyway, if you're happy with the noticeable weight and want an attractive bowl that retains heat well, I don't think you can go wrong with this bowl.
