Review on BolAAzuL Thunderbolt Transfer Charging - Enhanced Compatibility for Fast Data Transfer by Alfredo Nosrac

Overpriced on cables and connections

First of all, not all USB-C cables are created equal. For example, USB-C cables sold for phones may not be able to transfer 40 Gbps. In fact, most don't. I found this out trying to test a new NVMe drive through an external enclosure using USB-C to USB-C cables. I tried several cables and none of them gave me more than 450MB/s speed, but to make matters worse, the long cables sold for phone charging were 10 times slower. Also, not all USB-C ports on computers and laptops are created equal. I just read an article about this that tested USB-C ports on many laptops and found that most of them DO NOT offer true 40Gb/s speeds. And in fact, the maximum speed I got was around 450MB/s with all the different cables. The same goes for the 0.7m Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 3 USB 4 cable. I've ordered about 4 different USB-C cables (including this one) and it's the most expensive of them all by a good margin of almost 3x. the cost of the cheapest and the same performance when connected to my LG Gram laptop. Conclusion: This is a good USB-C (Thunderbolt) cable with decent speed claims, but I don't think the high price justifies it. 2 stars.
