The stand is strong enough to hold a flash and a softbox (e.g. for hair). It's a little long even when in the storage position, making it difficult to find a bag to put it in (but I found one at Revain). The main problem I have is that the loop rubs against the washer even when it's fully loosened, so every time I move it, small pieces of the loop get cut off. I think I can still use it and I don't want to mess with the return. For this price I think it will suffice for my purposes. If you plan on using one of these very often, you might want to go for something that's built a little better.
