Unicorn 3D Wooden Clock

Well I tried. I've never done anything like this before. I was going to say "amazing" but it turned out to be something else. But it looks ok (I'm not a very good photographer). The unicorn lost its horn at the beginning of the project and became a Pegasus. It has been disassembled and reassembled at least a hundred times. I think maybe I could piece it together with my eyes closed now. I really do. Pet trouble time. One thing that has struck me is that almost every picture of the assembled unicorn puzzle I've seen, whether from a Revain seller or buyer, shows the puzzle assembled correctly. Your photos show one or more garments worn backwards. The pretty sides with the details should be facing OUT where you can see them. I guess buyers can make their own decisions about this, but the company actually selling this on Revain? The images on display show the model with the bottom/front WRONG. Because of this, we customers cannot see the beautiful details that should be in the foreground. However . . .It took about half an hour to assemble the model. This got me thinking about how I could make an already cool puzzle game even better. To draw! If you decide to go with brushes, I have some advice. This model can be painted in a simple or complex way. Please note the following: 1. Latex paint will NOT stick to laminate floors. I painted the entire back wall and let it dry for a week. At this point, I gently peeled off the paint streaks with my fingernail.2. Therefore, before painting, the entire puzzle must be sanded. It's much easier to leave the parts in place and sand both sides of each part board before removing it. I didn't have that luxury with this one, but I did with the second one I'm working on and it's a lot easier. Use a 220/320 grit sponge and sand until the laminate is completely removed. Parts created by laser during manufacturing will remain, so don't worry. The surface takes on the color of parchment. You can still see part numbers for reference during assembly.3. I was afraid of losing the laser cut part while painting, so I took my trusty Dremel. I started with the smallest Dremel engraving bit I could find. Then I used the big bits for the outline. Dremeled loved this puzzle. My photos don't show how much.4. For the dial I used fake jewelry and gorilla glue. The tweezers came in very handy, as did the curved paper clip. I used the sharp end of a paper clip to take some Gorilla Glue and apply it to the small circle on the dial. Then I put a small diamond on top with tweezers and positioned it as best I could. It's much quicker than you think. After the glue dried I painted the dial several times until the stones were painted over. That was my favorite part of the project. I really like the dial although I could still try to age it a bit with black paint and rust paint.5. I used a small brush to fill in the details Dremeling created. A firm hand helps. Then I sanded the whole thing back down to give it an aged look. It needs to be sanded again before it's finished to reveal more wood marks. 6. Important when painting, make sure you have several small files of different shapes. Use liberally as needed. When painting these surfaces, the parts no longer fit together. Don't risk breaking the pieces of the puzzle by putting them together. Use your files! I'm currently working on another clock puzzle. Luckily I applied my experience to this puzzle and pre-sanded all the pieces before the first assembly. This makes this second clock puzzle much easier and faster! Much luck. Please post photos!
