But you also need to make sure they chew on hard objects like bones or large chunks to keep tartar at bay. I've found that the tartar comes back pretty quickly when I relax, so you have to be diligent when using this material. Once the tartar is gone, you can apply it several times a week. Although this material is expensive, it lasts a long time. The only drawback is the minty taste. Even the taste of salmon is minty. My husky actually foams at the mouth when I put it on his teeth and he runs away when he sees me coming with this stuff. My other dog doesn't seem to mind the taste but isn't thrilled with the use.
