The standard mode of this light works (almost) immediately out of the box. Just set the current time and off you go. The problems start when you need a "custom" program. The instructions aren't clear at all and the buttons used for programming don't always respond in the same way. I have successfully created a new daylight schedule, but my "moonlight" is scheduled too early and is overriding my daylight schedule. I had no problem accessing the "Moonlight" controls twice. But now I can't get into that menu at all. As a result, at 6pm my blue moonlight comes on, overriding my daylight schedule and turning it off. As I said, I've had no problem accessing this menu twice before, but now that I've made my own daylight schedule, the moonlight menu isn't available. I should have bought a flashlight with an app, not a built-in controller. There are also no options for "Dawn" or "Sunset". Brightness is very good, even on my 250 gallon tank.
