Works great with the big S21 Ultra, just get a USB-C M-to-F extender

I bought this DeX station instead of the DeX Pad as the station has an Ethernet connection connection. The phone's Ethernet option (under Connections) lights up when the station's Ethernet port is connected, so you can use that instead of Wi-Fi or a cellular system if you prefer. It turns out it's a 10/100 port on the station, not a gigabit port. But I don't really care. Actually works fine over ethernet, just limited to that speed. If your Wi-Fi speed is faster, just turn off Ethernet in Connections and use Wi-Fi for your phone, which is still possible. in) fit into the cradle of the station to connect to the USB-C connector. So I bought a Stouchi 1.5ft USB-C male-to-female extension cable separately, which allows the phone to just sit on the table when connected to the station via the extension cable. comes by itself (hence the lower price), I also had to separately purchase a USB-C charger that plugs into the station's USB-C/PD port (to power the phone, which itself plugs into the USB -C the station is connected port). I bought a 25W Super Fast Charger that was compatible with the S21 Ultra. I had my own HDMI cable (Premium certified for 4K HDR) so I didn't have to buy one. But other than that, Station works amazingly well! I tried using my own TOTU 13-in-1 USB-C mini-dock (which has all the same ports as the station plus many more), but the display on DeX was at 1920 x 1080p 60Hz limited regardless of whether a 1080p monitor/TV or even a 4K monitor/TV was used. It turns out that if you want to get a 2560 x 1440 60Hz desktop in DeX mode with a 2560 x 1440 monitor or a 4K monitor/TV, you only need to SPECIFICALLY USE Samsung DeX Station or DeX Pad. Third-party mini-docks cannot be used. MUST USE SAMSUNG STATION OR SAMSUNG SITE for 2560x1440 resolution. Otherwise, all other external peripherals and DeX software features are available through ANY mini-dock, including my TOTU. In other words, you can connect a USB mouse and USB keyboard (using two USB-A 2.0 ports) so your human input is the same as when using your computer. I've even used my IBM PS/2 keyboard connected via the Adesso PS/2 to USB adapter and it worked great. I had an issue with my own Lenovo wireless laser mouse, which I connected the receiver to the USB-A port. . It almost didn't seem to work. Absolutely useless. Then I connected a wired MS-USB mouse and it worked great! Perhaps a Logitech wireless mouse/receiver would work better. YMMV. I don't mind using a wired mouse that worked 100% perfectly with DeX Station. Note that mouse pointer speed and primary mouse button are configurable in the phone's Settings -> General Controls -> Mouse & Trackpad. Likewise, you can customize the keyboard here via -> physical keyboard. Please note that in addition to "DeX Mode", DeX Station also supports "Phone Mode" to use the same external peripherals. In other words, you can control your phone normally but with the enhancements that all four external peripherals (ethernet, mouse, keyboard, display) offer, simply by plugging everything into the station and NOT using DeX. You simply switch between DeX mode or Phone mode via Settings -> Advanced features -> Phone DeX mode. Alternatively, you can also use the quick settings to get to the DeX mode toggle option by swiping down the phone's notification bar (to get short quick settings buttons) and then swiping it down a second time (to get full settings buttons, first page). , then swipe left (to get the second page settings buttons, which contain DeX). Not every app can run in DeX mode, so sometimes you NEED to switch back to phone mode. For example, the Messages app (I'm using Verizon Message+) can't work in DeX mode, but SHOULD work in phone mode. I've tried several other 3rd party custom apps and again due to their nature couldn't run in DeX desktop mode and needed phone mode instead. However, Station still offers all the joys of a mouse and keyboard for data entry and allows you to see a "mirror" of your phone's screen maximized vertically on an external monitor/TV display to utilize the full vertical height of the Screen. external screen. The great thing about DeX and its fully compatible apps is that you can resize and move app windows (or even enlarge them to run full screen if you want). You can extrude edges and corners just like in a program window on your computer. And while apps usually default to the size and shape of a phone when they open in portrait mode, you can try switching them to DeX mode (using the DeX-provided controls in the program window) to resize them to your liking. There's even an option to "try it out" even though the app wasn't technically written to support DeX mode. And it turns out that most apps actually work in DeX mode! Please note that the phone screen will turn off after the normal screen timeout. However, the mirror of the phone screen (when running Station in phone mode) or the full-screen DeX desktop (when running Station in DeX mode) always remain activated. It should be noted that the "Mirror" phone screen (in "Phone" mode) is displayed at the maximum resolution of your monitor/TV. So if you are using a monitor/TV with 4K resolution, the phone mirror (flipped vertically) on your screen will also be displayed in 4K resolution. This differs from a full-screen DeX desktop, which uses your entire monitor/TV at up to 2560x1440p. great experience. As advertised, it really feels like controlling a computer. Same external I/O peripherals, same desktop experience, very similar to Windows. Same taskbar for navigating between multiple applications running in multiple open windows on the desktop, same ability to minimize/restore windows of running programs to/from the taskbar, etc. /keyboard actions you would have for programs running on your computer can be easily intuitively working with the same (or different) apps on your phone! Assuming you're traveling with the same full set of external peripherals (plus the external display/monitor/tv you need with DeX, which you don't really need with a laptop) that you normally use with a laptop, and assuming all the software, you need has a mobile phone version of Android. With Station, you can truly use your phone as if it were your computer. You also have to carry the station around, but it's "tiny" compared to a laptop. The most important result: The DeX station works perfectly. And it supports (like the DeX Pad) resolutions up to 2560 x 1440p on an external display, which isn't available on any other USB-C mini-dock, even if identical ports are available on that other mini-dock. Otherwise, at least my TOTU Mini Dock worked almost perfectly and was limited to only one 1920x1080p DeX desktop. EDIT 1: Need to add that 2560x1440 is only available on a monitor or TV that actually supports that VESA resolution. I have an Eizo CG318 4K monitor that supports 2560x1440, so DeX through Station provides that output resolution. However, when I connect to my LG OLED C9 (a native 4K HDTV that doesn't support 2560x1440 but does support 3540x2160, which Station/DeX doesn't support), the max resolution available is 1920x1080p. Bottom line: you can get 2560 x 1440p if your display device supports it. Otherwise, you'll only get 1920 x 1080p. EDIT 2: While many apps can run in DeX mode, as I said, not all can. And as it turns out, native Netflix and Hulu apps DO NOT WORK PROPERLY in DeX mode. But other streaming apps like Prime Video and PBS WORK CORRECTLY in DeX mode. So if you want to stream movies from your phone to your TV, it's best NOT to use DeX mode, just work in phone mode. So, an HDMI cable from your phone, through the station, and then to your TV literally just mirrors playback from your phone to Netflix, Hulu, or any other movie on your HDTV, and that's really all you cared about at all.
