Something about this chair reminds me of puritanical New England. It's hard as stone. The seat feeling is a bit hard. However, my comfortable, padded old desk chair sank so far that I reached for the keyboard like a little kid at the dining table, and the ensuing neck and shoulder pain was motivation enough to start looking for a replacement. I followed Wirecutter's advice and got this one. It was easy to put together myself, feels solid, and for the first time in years I'm looking down at the keyboard instead of up. But folks, this isn't a luxury seat.
