Review on ROSES Appetite Destroying Wallet by Rocksax by Adam Webbie

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good but dubious to call it "audiophile " quality

I went back and forth giving this one 3 or 4 stars. In the end I found the album itself too good to give 3 stars. However, there is something I would like to point out. 1. The version I received was different from the one shown in the pictures. It had no plastic sleeve with an original banned image as an outside graphic on the center fold and a group photo on the inside center fold. I had a regular spread with a banned original cover inside. I also didn't receive the high-resolution download code listed on the wrapper, but that code still expired on December 31, 2020, so I guess it doesn't matter anyway. 2. The overall sound quality is pretty good, but nothing outstanding to qualify as "audiophile". There was some distortion on the tracks.3. I love that they split it into 3 parts but I think they could use the vinyl space better and let the tracks breathe a little more. The protruding tracks are quite wide and I think they could expand the music a bit which would reduce distortion. The 4th side hologram is pretty much useless and useless after a spin. A better use of two LPs could put 3 lanes on each side and maybe even increase the speed to 45rpm. This would allow for better use of space and perhaps justify that "audiophile" claim. For some odd reason the first LP comes in a plastic lined paper sleeve, which is good because it doesn't scratch the vinyl, but the second LP only comes in a paper sleeve. I'll probably just replace both with a MoFi inner sleeve, but that's just an odd decision to save 50 cents.
