I have an Asus ROG-G703xxx 17 inch gaming laptop. This laptop gets very hot especially when I compile code. That's exactly what I wanted. A sudden drop in core voltage when all cores are working 100% on long compilations by keeping the frequency high, thus reducing compilation time. Noise isn't a problem for me as my laptop fans run in the 5000-6700 RPM range under load (which is about 24/7) drowning out any noise from the cooler (which is actually minimal) I have the USB plugged in Separate power supply attached leaving my USB ports free which works great as the controls are on the front of the cooler. My only complaint is that I don't know how I rely heavily on cheap plastic anti-slip baffles to keep the laptop from sliding on the floor. If you have a thin and light laptop, this shouldn't be a problem ( mine is two inches thick).
