Lots of little hassles

I bought this to replace my LG GPad 8.3 inch Android tablet. I chose ChromeOS because it looks like Google wants to make it their future mobile platform and it runs Android apps, but while ChromeOS has been available with Android apps for a long time, it's very similar to beta software Dark mode (although I read this morning that it's finally arrived in the Canary version!) - Strange bug randomly duplicates text when typed into Chrome's new tab search bar (no problem in the URL bar) - Sometimes it takes more than 10 seconds to wake up from sleep, then 10 more to become useful even with 0 apps open On-screen - Animation sporadic but often sluggish - OneDrive integration is useless (don't let me write and doesn't show up as a target in most dialogs) - D here's a reduction of the Chrome app library in favor of decorated windows, so I have 3 versions of Slack installed. A Chrome app that's too slow to use, an Android app that doesn't place columns properly, and a decorated window, which is fine, but the keyboard pops up every time I change channels. I can only access Webex meetings by launching the Android app and entering my ID. Clicking the link doesn't work - There isn't enough memory on the 64GB model to install Linux, there's plenty of space left - I have to use the Android YouTube app because the Chrome isn't that smooth and the touch controls are worse - When playing, the video is hard to search because grabbing the search tool and dragging to the right is the same gesture as "backward" (swiping from the left edge to the right), so if you do a half millimeters, you simply go back one page. The back gesture cannot be changed or disabled. - If you have Chrome and Android version of the app (like Youtube) enjoy double notifications. - My Android apps are not auto-updated even though they are auto-updated in settings. I miss my touch mode android app switcher. Additionally, being a bare tablet, the form factor is great. However, once you add a kickstand, the weight doubles and the fabric backing protrudes beyond the tablet. The keyboard adds another pound of weight. All in all, it weighs more than my 13-inch Samsung laptop. When the keyboard cover is closed, it also slides because its "hinge" is just a small strip of vinyl. I happily bought it as a replacement for my Android tablet. , but the touch surface is choppy at best, performance is weak, and many poor design choices made me regret buying it. There are the best ultraportable Chromebooks and the best Android tablets. This device does a poor job of both. Hopefully over 8 years of software updates will fix some of the issues.
