Review on IFR Certified Aviation Flight Training Glasses - View Limiting Device for Pilot Training & Simulation of Instrument Meteorological Conditions - Adjustable Frosted Polycarbonate Frames (Blue) by Duane Ramos

Revainrating 4 out of 5

I can definitely recommend them for helicopters.

These are mostly frosted goggles. So they're as comfortable as ski goggles, which isn't a bad thing. I train with tools in a helicopter where all the tools are on my left and these goggles block almost everything but the tools which really reduces distractions. If you want to look outside, you have to use the old "I looked up to check the magnetic compass” trick. At night, when we're trying to do most of our training, you see nothing but these tools. Even with a lot of sky/earth lighting. They also fit the headset fairly well, with no real pressure points. I wear them for 2-3 hours and all I noticed was a slight redness on the bridge of my nose after I took them off. I definitely recommend them. And they certainly eliminate the need to climb "under the hood."

Pros
  • A lot of positive emotions
Cons
  • Some minuses

See your instrument panel in clear detail, and nothing else
