Review on Portable Electronics Cassette Player Recorder by Dawn Mattheis

Not bad for the price

Considering the price point I wasn't expecting anything top of the line so there are some good things and some that you expect for the price. First off the usb reader was the main reason for the purchase as instead of listening to either one of the two radio stations that we get in at work and hearing the same songs all the time I can just put in a usb and be good for the whole shift. The manual says very little in the way or what works or what won't simply stating to put the usb in the usb port (no, really?) and select usb. I have a 32gb sandisk cruzer that I moved about 4gb worth of files to and after plugging it in it was still flashing 15 minutes later. My guess is this is beyond the capacity of the radio or it either needs more than 15 minutes to read it there was no error msg or anything on the screen to indicate what the issue was. I have a 16gb Patriot usb that I moved 1gb of files to and after about 1 minute of reading it came up on the screen. It is a nice feature as you don't need to recharge the usb stick and it takes up so little space. On the downside the volume seems to be rather anemic when using the usb versus the other applications. I did not try the cd player as I mostly download everything to my computer and move it to the ipod or put the files on the usb stick. The radio worked very nice inside my house and pulled in any station out there. I used a cassette adapter and ran my ipod touch thru it and it sounded pretty good especially with the bass boost. Nice feature is you can detach the speakers and point them in your general direction. Not perfect but about what I expected for $60 and change.

Pros
  • nice thing
Cons
  • So far so good
