I'm shocked that so many people rate this shoe so highly. My son wears a size 3 and we ordered a size 4 because he likes very loose shoes. But even with the large size, the hole in the shoes is so narrow that he couldn't put anything in it but his toes! He also doesn't have very wide feet. No matter how hard I tried to help him by stretching the boot and keeping it as open as possible, we couldn't get them on. They're constructed almost like a sock-like shoe that you slip on and stitch snugly to your ankle, rather than a traditional sneaker (where you can open the tongue, slip the shoe on, and then tighten the laces).
