Rescuer. Only shoes that fit our AFOs

These shows really do save lives. I can't find shoes that fit my sons AFO. They open/close well and look good. This frustrates my son, he can't wear the shoes like everyone else, but they are very similar to Converse shoes so they still 'go' with other children's shoes. I wish there was a half size and more options. However, the low-top sneakers don't fit me. There's a difference, of course, but it worked for them too. Please don't ever stop doing this.

    Pros
    • Lightning is not strong
    Cons
    • Supposedly these shoes are good for kids who wear orthotics, I couldn't even get them on my son's braces.

This is PERFECT for my AFO sons! Billy Classic WDR ordered, highly recommended! My son has wide feet and with the addition of AFO it was very difficult to find a shoe wide enough to fit. Love the zipper around the toe, it made it very easy to fit your AFO in. The Classic Billy WDR shoes were the ONLY shoes that fit! They look great and my son can wear them to school with confidence. We love Billy Classic shoes!

    Pros
    • Nice shoes for my son who wears leg braces. They are wide enough to accommodate braces.
    Cons
    • Difficult to put on for toddlers

    I really love these

My son has SMO and finding shoes to wear is a nightmare. I saw someone watching them on TikTok and I had to buy them. After buying 3 sizes, the brace fits and is still difficult to put on. It was already difficult for him to walk, and in shoes three times bigger he was horrible to look at. Once they arrive at his correct size, he moves so well that buying them is not a problem. Thanks Billy Footwer, you are a life saver.

    Pros
    • My daughter wears AFO, these shoes match her suspenders perfectly. They have a width of xx, which works great. Good price!!
    Cons
    • I bought these shoes for my son and after 2 months the zipper broke.

Amazing for AFO! BUY FROM BILLYFOOTWEAR, NOT AMAZON.

These shoes fit perfectly and are the best we have tried for AFO foot support and independence for a special needs child. The main issue is that the zip broke after the first week of wearing - ebay did nothing to return/replace them. BillyFootware's customer service has been AMAZING. I have purchased several other pairs for my son directly from BILLYFOOTWEAR.com and they have a rewards system too!

    Pros
    • Brought in to help with toe walking.
    Cons
    • They do not fit.

The quality of the banknotes let us down for the first time

I have already bought Billy for your son who wears braces but these are by far the worst I have ever bought. For a family that has relied on billies for the simplicity of shoes over suspenders, I am very disappointed in this company and model. Please don't buy them. The zipper broke after 2 months and the fabric of the shoe came apart within the first month. I just really hope Billy's quality doesn't deteriorate as many families like us rely on them.

    Pros
    • I found them for half the price and at a major retail store.
    Cons
    • Sole easily detaches from shoe

I ended up returning them in favor of cheaper ones, but they were so good they were almost roomy (with articulated AFO) and not too long! If my daughter's feet are slower in growth I'll probably get them, but as I don't think she'll stay in them for more than 6 months I went with Billy's Target shoes (I've read bad reviews about the durability of zippers). for cheaper ones).

    Pros
    • I love how easy it is to dress my disabled son and he loves it
    Cons
    • The seam will unravel quickly

    Great for special needs

If you have a child who had Achilles tendon surgery and now has an ankle brace, Billy shoes are the way to go. This is the only shoe we have been able to find that fits comfortably with orthotics without changing the shoes themselves. They are stylish too. The full zip feature is excellent. Also great shoes for special needs even if you don't have orthotics. Our other kids who have trouble lacing and have wide feet love these shoes.

    Pros
    • Save me some time while I get ready for my almost two year old son.
    Cons
    • Inner lining tears easily

    Revainrating 2 out of 5

    Wears out very quickly

They fit perfectly over suspenders. My main concern was that by law they are designed to support braces to help with toe walking. However, within 2 months, both shoes were completely worn out at the front through the sole. 2 months! I mean real holes through and through his legs. Makes shoes almost useless. I was expecting MUCH MORE durability from an expensive shoe made specifically for toe walking.

    Pros
    • I'm so glad I bought this shoe, it fits my son perfectly. Thank you for everything you do
    Cons
    • Didn't fit in size

    Revainrating 1 out of 5

Completely destroyed in less than 60 days

The quality is terrible. After trying a pair of shoes that fit my son post surgery and getting an AFO, these were the only ones that fit the plus size AFO. Had to order two different sizes to fit his feet. So, $100 later, here we are in less than 2 months - they were delivered on April 4th, and it's not even June yet! Looking for something that will last more than 2 months for $100 - won't buy again.

    Pros
    • I love these shoes, they are a lot easier to slip in and they go great with his suspenders.
    Cons
    • Tried 3 different pairs 1 was too big 2 the other zipper was not attached to the boot

    So autism friendly!

This is the 12th pair of Billy's I've bought. they are well made and very stylish. I first bought these for my son who has trouble tying his shoelaces due to fine motor issues. God... they changed the rules of the game! Now he can easily put his own shoes on. They are so quick and comfortable that I even bought them for my other child who can tie their shoelaces! They are our favorites in our house.

    Pros
    • My son loves them, they are comfy and red.
    Cons
    • After 1 month of wearing, the seam on the toe started to unravel.

    Revainrating 2 out of 5

    Not durable for child's play

My son has worn Billy shoes for many years. But over the last year and a half, we've noticed that after just a few months, the fabric is unraveling from the zipper at the top of his shoes, leaving a hole. I thought it might be an anomaly with the first pair but this is the third pair to do this in just 2-3 months after wearing them. He's not particularly picky about shoes. He has cerebral palsy and is not as active as other kids. We love these shoes because they support his independence by…

    Pros
    • I love them, they fit my son perfectly, they fit his chest brilliantly.
    Cons
    • Doesn't provide good cushioning

    Revainrating 4 out of 5

2 sizes larger Suitable for KAFO

This is an innovative shoe that opens and closes with a zipper. Buy a size 2-2.5 to slip over orthotics (KAFO) if you loosen your laces a bit. This is probably the simplest solution to using KAFO. I wish they had a really warm snowshoe. Not sure how durable it is, we've only used it indoors over shoes for 2-3 weeks.

    Pros
    • These shoes lasted less than two months for a person who barely walks. The zipper on the toe of both shoes broke.
    Cons
    • Not durable, shows signs of wear after a short time

    Revainrating 3 out of 5

Good shoes for AFO. However, low durability

It was a good choice for those who use AFO. My daughter could use it herself. However, it takes 1 month and 9 days. The zipper broke and we have to buy a new one. In addition, the rubber had already come loose at the front. This is a 4 year old who uses it during the day, I expected more durability. Again, this is a very good shoe for AFO, but Billy needs to invest in a better quality zipper and rubber that won't open.

    Pros
    • Provides excellent support and cushioning to protect children's feet.
    Cons
    • Easy to slip off your feet

    Revainrating 5 out of 5

Costs money! - my new rating

The shoes fit perfectly and look very good! Our little girl has braces on her feet and legs and they go well with them, just how we wanted them!

    Pros
    • My grandson wears AJO and they are PERFECT for him.
    Cons
    • Uncomfortable to wear for a long time

    Revainrating 2 out of 5

Poor stitching along the zipper at the top

My family is a fan of billy shoes as our son who wears orthotics is comfortable to wear, but now we have two pairs of billy shoes that didn't have a zipper on the toe. This latest pair (picture attached) failed within two weeks of purchase. We'd love to keep buying Billy shoes, but we need more durable shoes.

    Pros
    • Provides excellent ankle support and reduces the risk of twisting or spraining your child's ankle.
    Cons
    • Prone to deformation after long-term wear

    Revainrating 5 out of 5

    Exactly what we needed

These shoes are perfect for my daughter who wears ankle braces! It's much easier to put on and take off than regular shoes! They tolerate their childish antics well.

    Pros
    • Great shoes! My daughter loves her
    Cons
    • Slightly scratched and smudged

    Revainrating 1 out of 5

    Lightning sucks

This is the third pair of these orthopedic shoes for my grandson. Either way, the zipper tears or the fabric next to the zipper tears. If a company specializes in orthopedic shoes, it should at least have a certain quality. Their one-month return policy is just as terrible.

    Pros
    • Encourages independence as children can easily put them on and take them off without help.
    Cons
    • Not suitable for children with flat feet

    Revainrating 5 out of 5

    Good hits.: my review

Always buy these for my daughter, she has autism, she walks on tiptoe and has very wide feet, horrible orthopedic shoes and they do the job, she loves them and can zip them up, don't know what I will do when they do lets them grow because the adult size on them is weird!

    Pros
    • Ideal for children with sensory processing issues as it provides a comfortable and secure fit.
    Cons
    • Not recommended for children with foot problems

    Revainrating 1 out of 5

Harm new rating - my new rating

My son loves wearing them because he can be independent. The only problem is that now I can't leave it alone because even the zippers don't hold up at all. They tear at the seam or get stuck when nothing is in the way. The pair I received three days ago and opened yesterday had a damaged toe box and strings were already sticking out. I bought 4 pairs of shoes. In 50% of cases they are well finished, in the other 50% - with damage or noticeable defects.

    Pros
    • Offers great value for money as they are built to last and offer excellent comfort and support.
    Cons
    • Overpriced, not worth the investment
