Kiddo has greaves

My son has braces on his legs. The prosthetist suggests that we try 2 special shoes. It was a couple. And OMG. They were a life saver when it came to getting in and out. We have tried other shoes from Walmart and it took us much longer to get rid of the suspenders and straps. For a 1.5 year old he doesn't like sitting for so long. Laugh out loud. Yes, the price can be high. But they are worth it.

Pros
  • Perfect for parents looking for a comfortable shoe that doesn't require complicated laces or closures.
Cons
  • Does not provide good grip on wet surfaces

The zipper came undone in my review

The zipper started coming off the toe of the shoe, didn't wear it for almost a month. The previous two pairs did the same but were used (albeit infrequently) so I'm including it. Great idea, works great with oversized AFOs but unfortunately poor quality and now my daughter has run out of another pair.

Pros
  • These are the best shoes for braces! This new wide cut is the only shoe my son can wear! They are amazing!
Cons
  • Poor quality materials used in construction

Great shoes! - my new rating

I ended up sending back the first pair of Billys I bought because they were too small and too tight. I decided to increase the size and order a wide one. They go so well with his insoles and he doesn't seem to mind wearing them on his feet, he's definitely more comfortable. Before I found them I was struggling to put my shoes on with his orthotics and it would take so long these days but I love how easy they are on and off. I will buy them again.

Pros
  • Helps kids build confidence and self-esteem as they proudly show off their cool new shoes.
Cons
  • Difficulty tightening the laces

Blessing! .... the best in my rating

I have a special needs daughter who needs to wear leg braces. Finding shoes that match your socks is an absolute nightmare and can be costly. This really is the best value for money! Incredibly easy to put on and take off and they hold up well with my daughter's classes. I have now bought 3 pairs and will continue to buy them.

Pros
  • Fits perfectly over braces and allows room for toe growth.
Cons
  • Heavy, puts pressure on the child's leg

He loves his billies.

They are great for kids who wear braces, AFOs, etc. So easy to cap it with CP too. Would recommend her to any child. also very durable.

Pros
  • Easy to put on and take off, perfect for kids on the go.
Cons
  • Not suitable for growing feet

Zipper broke after two months

My daughter wears Surestep SMO. I was hoping this "WDR" version would last, but in less than two months the zipper on one boot broke and is snapping on the other boot. A slacker because it's good for her and her teachers at school.

Pros
  • Ideal for children who need extra support due to flat feet or other foot problems.
Cons
  • Keeps the air out in hot weather.

Ideal for braces: my assessment

If you are looking for something to replace with AFOs or braces etc, this is perfect. Measure your braces with a ruler and use the size chart, not your shoe size of course.

Pros
  • Grandson's feet need plastic supports, they work great. They adjust and the zipper is the bomb.
Cons
  • It's expensive and the shoes were too big

Tearing is easy - my new review

I've had this shoe for less than 3 months. They've already ripped at the seam of the zipper. They aren't as good as the original first Billy shoe design we had many years ago. I'll stick to other orthopedic shoes now.

Pros
  • Perfect for kids who need to wear uniforms as they come in neutral and classic colors.
Cons
  • Too narrow in the midfoot

Shoes that work! in my opinion

The only type of shoe that comfortably fits my grandson's AFO. Easy to turn on and off and lightweight too! Hope for more colors!

Pros
  • Ideal for children with wide feet as they are tailored to different foot shapes.
Cons
  • Insufficient sole flexibility

The best shoes for kids who have been AFO

Shoes are not big. She does not stumble while walking and running. My daughter can move like other kids and you don't realize she has her AFOs with her.

Pros
  • Allows kids to express their style and personality with a range of fun and colorful options.
Cons
  • Too wide around the toe

I love this shoe for AFO.

These shoes are great. My children wear AFO to correct walking problems. Before I discovered these shoes it was very difficult to find shoes that fit over suspenders and when we found the right shoes the kids couldn't put them on by themselves. Now because they can be more independent in this shoe. We have bought over 6 pairs in the last few years. Very happy with them.

Pros
  • Engineered to keep feet cool and comfortable even in hot and humid weather.
Cons
  • Too heavy for younger children

Ideal for children with orthopedic devices

It is much easier to put this zipper on a child with an orthosis that attaches to his/her leg. You can tie your laces and leave them for days/weeks without changing as the main closure is the zips. The only downside is that zippers are used so often that they can break. I took the shoes to my local shoemaker and he fixed them for $7, almost better than new. In general, I highly recommend it!

Pros
  • Ideal for children who wear orthopedic insoles as they fit easily in the shoe.
Cons
  • Not recommended for children with mobility issues

Qualitatively disappointed

Very happy to order these shoes for my son who has AFL suspenders and it didn't even take a month for the suspenders to break through the shoes which has never happened with other shoes. I'm so upset because we should have these shoes Be the holy grail of braces. While we LOVE the zipper, the shoe just didn't hold up.

Pros
  • a good product.
Cons
  • After a few days of wearing the sneakers, they broke near the zipper. Although very convenient.

The fabric next to the zipper is too stretchy, especially if your little one has to wear suspenders (which is what these shoes are designed for), but the fabric wears out too quickly and starts to fray.

Pros
  • Ideal for outdoor activities such as hiking, cycling and sports.
Cons
  • Loud when walking

Poor staying power in my rating.

Worn less than 2 months and both shoes can be opened with zippers. I wrote to the manufacturer and received no reply. They are great for wearing with orthotics, but the quality and durability are very poor.

Pros
  • Comes in a cool and trendy design to make kids stand out from the crowd.
Cons
  • No ventilation

zipper problem

Really wanted this to work for us. My son has a rare genetic disorder and needs wide shoes. We bought a pair and they fit perfectly which was amazing. We were excited and bought 4-5 pairs of different sizes to anticipate growth as shoes are hard to find. Unfortunately the zipper doesn't fit. We now have a couple of pairs of shoes out of the return window which will be a disappointment when trying to put them on. I would not recommend this shoe. The material feels strong from the start, but…

Pros
  • Offers excellent breathability and ensures that feet stay dry and fresh even during strenuous activities.
Cons
  • Not recommended for children with sweaty feet

Hope for better durability

We were excited to finally try these out for our son who wears AFO. They worked great until the zipper broke. We wore them 5 days a week for about a month.

Pros
  • Comes with a classic design that will never go out of style ensuring they can be worn year after year.
Cons
  • hard to crack

Poor quality zipper hardware

For my child who wears orthotics I have worn 3 pairs in less than 4 months. Very disappointed with the cheap workmanship of the zipper. Literally flew off the track all three times. Their customer service is terrible so don't tell them you're not satisfied. You will do nothing. You can get a meager 10% discount.

Pros
  •  My little boy loves these shoes 😍
Cons
  • Does not provide adequate ankle support

Ideal for AFO!: my review

My child has braces and they are perfect. When you get wide, they close up easily with an AFO. It makes the dressing process much easier for both of us. I wish they were half the size but there isn't much of a difference.

Pros
  • Constructed from durable materials to withstand the wear and tear of everyday use.
Cons
  • Causes excessive sweating of the foot

Do not use with a corset.

I'm sure they're good shoes. but i was told to buy them to use with an orthopedic leg brace. Didn't close the zipper all the way. So. Not wide enough.

Pros
  • The best shoes!!
Cons
  • Poor bow support
