Review on 🎀 Large Diaphragm Cardioid Condenser XLR Microphone - TZ Stellar X2 by Yuri Rochelin

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great microphone for the money. Beats well above his weight

When I saw a rave review online from a trusted source (Booth Junkies) I immediately put myself on the waiting list. In review, the Stellar X2 prototype was pitted against the Neumann U87, and it held up. This version is a new and improved version. It feels very premium, I think it's an all metal construction. In any case, it looks much more expensive than it really is. I mainly use this mic for voice over. Audio books and other types of storytelling work. Is that Neuamnn Killer? Well, in my opinion, yes and no. If you already have a Neumann, you won't be replacing it with this mic (it's the same as buying two TLM103s. It just doesn't make sense to do this for dubbing). I will use it as a backup mic when traveling or in case my Neumann breaks. The quality of this microphone is phenomenal. It's crazy to think you can have a spare $200 Neumann. If you don't have Neumann, now you need to ask yourself a few questions. Other than a few extra decibels of self-noise, I can't hear any difference between my TLM103 and the Stellar X2. Sounds absolutely great. It can be a little harsh at the top of my voice (but so does TLM 103). Verdict: In terms of value for money, I'm not sure there's a better mic on the market. I'm not an expert but I know what I like and what I hear when using this mic. Fantastic entry-level microphone, simply timeless microphone.
