Get the S66N instead! The single lock mechanism sucks!

I've had PowerAssist (S66N) for about a year and I'm very happy with it. I like the user-replaceable blades, and while you might not like the "wings," they feel a lot better in your hands than a bare duct. Since I usually carry a small pocket knife with me, I don't need a multi-tool with a knife. So I bought the S60 with the intention of replacing the knife blade with another tool. HOWEVER, the S60N that I received from Revain, which appears to be the current shipping model, has a tool lock. A lock sucks. No, really, disgusting. The S66N features piano-style locks, with each instrument having an individual lock. The problem with a single lock is that unless all of the tools other than the one you're using are stacked just right, the lock won't actually lock! This is a serious problem! The picture Revain has is of the earlier S60 model which has piano style locks and hex head screws instead of hex head screws. The item supplied is NOT the same as pictured and from what I can tell from SOG the current model is the single lock model with hex bolts. I'm sure a single lock is considerably cheaper to produce! Additionally, the fit and finish of the S66N (purchased November 2015) is like a child's toy compared to the S60N (purchased November 2014). The S66N has razor-sharp ruler markings and a beautiful finish. All individual instruments shine without casting defects. The markings on the S60N series are so faded/blurred that they are almost impossible to use. The Phillips screwdriver is a blank with ill-defined propeller blades. The Marlin spike has jagged ridges - it will ruin the rope from any knot you try to use it on. The pliers are particularly wide, the handles stick out very far which may result in you not having enough room/leverage to actually use the pliers. I would say that I wish there was a way to disable the camera more often than I am grateful that I have extra grip strength. I don't know if the S60N was always like this. was inferior to the S66N, or if SOG production just went downhill, or if I just got a bad copy. However, I could live with casting issues and I could live with a faded ruler, but the only lock is just a bunch of smoking doudou.

Pros
  • A sea of positive emotions
Cons
  • I don't like it very much, everything is fine
