Our community has the craziest outdoor hallway lighting schedule. On cloudy days, it's night time in our little alcove next to the main hallway and the light doesn't come on automatically. I'm tired of using my phone's flashlight to light up our latch for my key. I placed this light at waist level. It activates at about 8 feet away in the darkest conditions. (It activates when my pug is about 5 feet away.) It illuminates an area about 10 feet by 8 feet. And produces enough light that my neighbor can see her bolt about 6 feet from the light source. Placed at the same level as it is, it's not a super bright light, but it does produce enough light to help you see in the dark. If it were placed closer to the ground, the reflective color of the concrete would certainly enhance the light. So this can be a factor when placed on the wall. It was also easy to install.
