Review on Curtis GB MP3 Player Black by Justin Miller

Super annoying to use. Not worth $20!

Oh where do I start? I first bought it for the gym because I needed a cheap MP3 player in case my iPod broke during my workout. Well, I've seen this thing cost twenty bucks and hold 8GB, which is a lot for this price range. I also used to have a Curtis MP3 player (2GB with lanyard) and was very happy with it. I was impressed by it when I first opened the package, but as I started using it I became less and less impressed and it plunged me into complete depression very quickly. Here's why: 1. The battery drains very quickly (I never lasted more than 15 minutes) unlike my last Curtis which had a removable battery and lasted around six months between battery changes. 2. The buttons are really finicky and awkward to use. Sometimes they don't respond even if you press them very hard, and sometimes when the wind blows the wrong way outside or you move it a millimeter, the music stops and all settings change to you. It doesn't have a lock button, so there's no way to stop it. It also makes it impossible to put it in your pocket. If that's not enough, the buttons are WRONG! No, I'm not joking. In the world of $20-$30 Curtis MP3 players, the top is the bottom and the bottom is the top. Also, back is front and front is back. I can only imagine that some bored factory workers in China came up with this elaborate joke and are now laughing their asses off. I ended up turning the MP3 player upside down so the buttons were in place. The only problem is that now I can't read the display without a handstand. Not only is this inconvenient, I am now very angry at a group of people in China who work for 2 cents an hour and eat a grain of rice for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There are two good things about it. 1. It really does hold 8GB and 2. the sound quality is good. But the bad is so annoying that it MUCH outweighs the good. Eventually I gave up and bought a cheap #1 MP3 on Revain, SanDisk Sansa Clip. It's not as cheap as this thing, but it's definitely worth the extra money IMHO.

Pros
  • Hi-Speed USB 2.0
Cons
  • You could have chosen a newer model
