Review on Maxell CD-330 CD-to-Cassette Adapter: High Quality Audio Conversion (190038) by Chris Dildine

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Cheaper adapters sound better!

After buying three identical adapters that cost between $4 and $5, I bought a Maxell cassette adapter in the hope that the higher price and positive reviews meant I'd give them a go could no longer replace every 6 months. Initially, the adapter ejected automatically, but after moving part of the cassette into the player, it worked. Having used this for 2 months I have no complaints about the quality of the stuff (the connector side is still intact) but the sound quality is incredibly empty, with weird basses that come and go randomly and trebles that even after that lowering the EQ of my phone AND the head unit is still too penetrating for the human ear at any listening volume! My phone sounds fine through any cable other than this adapter, and my car stereo sounds fine when not in use. Disappointed with the sound output and that my extra dollars seem wasted! Buy another cheap $4 that sound better.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Negative impression
