First real premium monitor - satisfied!

Edit - July 7, 2022: I was using a KabelDirekt 6ft DP-1.4 cable and noticed a flickering that has gotten worse lately. I recently replaced it with a Club3D 2M DP 1.4 cable and so far the issue seems to be resolved. When changing the cable, I found that the KabelDirekt connector was slightly bent from the impact on the bottom rear of the monitor. I think that was an issue as the product reviews for the cable have been great and the cable looks high quality. The Club3D cable still touches the ground a bit, but since it's 2m long and not quite 6ft long, I had a bit more slack and bent the cable to the side to relieve side pressure. I will update if the flickering stops. -- The monitor was big for me! I use it for both work (software development) and gaming (AC: Odyssey, Halo: Infinite, etc.). I bought it for around $630 during the Black Friday sale and it's well worth the money. Not sure about suggested retail price. It's been 5 months already. Here are some pros and cons: Pros: + Aggressive curve makes games feel more exciting and work is much easier. Before that I had 2 monitors (2 x 27 inch QHD). While working I had to move my head to read everything properly as the monitors were flat and text closer to the edge of the screen was harder to read than what was in front of me. This problem was worse for the monitor on the side. While it wasn't too bad, upgrading to the 343CQR made things easier - now all I have to do is move my eyes to see/read everything. Engineers/software developers concerned about how text might be rendered on the screen find I much better than flat monitors of course personal preference + the colors are stunning my main monitor used to be a nixeus edg27s-v2 - great monitor for the money and probably the best Despite the IPS panel, the colors of the 343CQR come out much better thanks to the better contrast ratio . I could use a Nixeus monitor for gaming if I had to, but wouldn't be very happy can double as a headphone jack; it can be placed on either side of the monitor. I bought a 6 inch extension cord to make it easier to use the headphone jack and it just hangs on this dongle ready for whatever headphones/devices I want to connect. + PIP is good. I don't use it very often, but it's there. + Menus are easier to navigate than most monitors. I wouldn't say it's the best user experience, but it's nice. + No speakers! from 144 Hertz. Cons: - I had to disable vsync and gsync because the monitor would occasionally turn off for a second during a gaming session. Not sure why this is happening - halos are a little noticeable to me. However, regretting the purchase of this monitor is not enough for me. - If you plan on using a monitor arm with this monitor, it's quite heavy (20lbs, + or - 2lbs) - Some features seem like a gimmick, the headphone stand on the side is flimsy) - Wish I had decided on the G9 mainly because that extra screen real estate would be awesome. Far from breaking the contract, but if you don't like compromise, go for the G9 - probably not the best monitor for competitive/FPS gaming (if you're a hardcore gamer) - a DP cable that not supplied with enough will take full advantage of the monitor. You will need a third-party DP cable that is VESA certified for DP 1.4. Overall I really like this monitor. I think this is a great deal for the price I bought it for ($630 + tax)!

Pros
  • I like it, the monitor works great, good quality, great job, MSI
Cons
  • aw3420dw is much better
