This vacuum cleaner has tremendous suction power, so powerful that it noticeably sucks in particles from several centimeters in front of the nozzle. It picked up a significant amount of dust and dirt from some of our carpets that had just been vacuumed with a more traditional vacuum. This cleanser may be particularly desirable for people with asthma and/or allergies. Its HEPA (High Efficiency Particle Air Absorption) filtration system is said to remove at least 99.97% of particles with a diameter of 0.3 microns or larger such as pollen, dirt, dust, etc. as well as bacteria and viruses. (Human hair is relatively thick, varying in diameter from 50 to 150 microns.) It can even capture the COVID-19 virus (0.02 to 0.3 microns in diameter), the captured viruses are said to be embedded in filters where they want to can survive. only for a limited number of days. The top handle is very convenient to move the vacuum cleaner around furniture, etc. At the top of the cylindrical dust box (which the manufacturer calls "dust box" ) is a carrying handle. However, it might be wiser not to use it, as lifting the vacuum by this handle puts all of its weight on the plastic latch that holds the dust bin in place. The switch has three positions: (1) off, (2) vacuum on without brushroll activated, and (3) vacuum on with brushroll activated. The headlight illuminates the area to be vacuumed, but only when the brush roll is activated. The brushroll status light alerts you when the brushroll needs your attention. There is a slider to reduce suction when cleaning curtains or other delicate items. The powerful vacuum cleaner sucks air, dust and dirt through a long flexible hose (which can be attached to either the floor nozzle or one of several special nozzles), through the pre-filter and sequentially through the foam filter, felt filter and special HEPA filter. Potential buyers should be aware that this cleaner requires more mechanical skill and care than traditional cleaners. If you're used to just turning your vacuum on and off, vacuuming, and changing your dust bag from time to time, brace yourself for a big change with this (and similar) vacuums. The manufacturer suggests cleaning the brush roller after every 7-10 uses. This vacuum cleaner does not have a dust bag but a large cylinder. It must be emptied after each use. Pre-filters, foam filters and felt filters should be cleaned with water only and allowed to dry for 24 hours every three months (or more often if suction seems weak). The HEPA filter should be washed with cold water once a year. At some point, the filters will likely need to be replaced, with the exception of the pre-filter. To balance the drag created by multiple filters, this air purifier uses two motors, making it heavier than traditional air purifiers. The supplied manual provides clear instructions (in English and Spanish) for all maintenance procedures.
