The main thing I wanted was a butter dish that could hold the thicker, larger, western sized US buttersticks and they fit! They're also long enough to easily accommodate Eastern US sizes, but the rim of the tray, the bottom, takes up a bit more room than I'd like as I needed as little extra material as possible due to the limited space in my fridge. The parts fit together well and provide an almost hermetic seal for oil freshness. The only downside is that the oil is well below the sidewalls, making it difficult to slice the butter without cutting the sidewalls. I recommend reshaping the base so that the bottom of the oil stick is at or above the level of the surrounding material. Durability: As a Rubbermaid, I'm sure it will last for years if washed in the dishwasher from time to time. I give it five for overall satisfaction.
