This Hito clock had a rocky start. I added a battery and it kept time for 2 days. Then it was suddenly slow by 40 minutes. I made sure the battery was completely in and I reset the clock. It worked for a few hours. But by that night, it had completely stopped moving. I took the battery out and put it in again. No go. I tested the battery - it registered as new. I tried different batteries just in case. Still, the clock wouldnt go. I even used a magnifying glass just to make sure I had the polarity right. I would have sent it back, but I threw away the packaging after 2 days because it seemed to be working. In desperation I put the original battery back in. Like magic, it started working ! And it has continued to work for months. Go figure.This Hito clock is SILENT. It keeps time (when it actually works). Its easy to read. Its good looking.The hydrometer wavers between 60 and 70 percent - which is not accurate. Don't buy it to read humidity.****edited Nov 2019The hygrometer DOES work. I'm not sure how accurate it is, but mine has gone as low as 35 on dry winter days.And I'm still very happy with the clock. Its quiet and it keeps time well.
