Review on πŸ”§ Optimized Woodworking Workholding with 7-Inch Spring Clamps by Jonathan Lamp

Strong springs = great holding power

Media could not be loaded. The design of these swivel eyelet clamps is very good, making them more versatile than regular spring clamps. But like I said in the video, they need to be modified to keep things securely at odd angles. The swivel tips are made of a hard plastic that is not very grippy and hard enough to damage softer woods. As with the previous clips, I'll probably modify them by attaching a few small pieces of bike tube with CA glue. The clips are well made, much better than some of the previous spring clips I've reviewed. I haven't noticed any cracks or defects in the reinforced nylon construction, which feels extremely hard and durable than regular plastic. But what really makes these clips stand out from the crowd are the springs. The springs are surprisingly strong and "inflated" for a small spring clip. So they have great holding power. They run almost the entire length of the back of the handle for added leverage. The swivel tabs work well and the swivel seems pretty solid. The handles are made of a very soft, rubberized material, making them easy to hold in your hand. This is especially useful because the springs are so strong. Overall this is a good set of spring clips at a reasonable price. You get four high-quality 7-inch clamps for $17.98 (at the time of this writing). They have exceptionally strong holding power for an affordable spring clip. The pivot point and tough, reinforced nylon construction should be able to handle all that force well. And easy-grip handles help you handle them comfortably. The general build quality is better than expected so I expect them to last a long time with moderate use. I only wish the tips were softer material on the surface.

Pros
  • REAL TOOLS. REAL QUALITY: Our spring clips and other locksmith hand tools are as strong as nails. Made from heavy-duty reinforced nylon, our clips are more durable than plastic and better than metal as they won't rust. The large diameter, hardened steel spring coil also has more loops and up to 30 pounds of clamping force, allowing objects to be securely clamped.
Cons
  • No performance
