This is exactly what I needed. I was looking for a KVM-like device that would allow me to use my favorite mechanical keyboard and mouse between my Macbook Air (for work) and the Windows desktop (for personal). I was just sick of plugging and unplugging until one day I said. "Why am I tormenting myself? Just buy a kvm or something and do it.” So after a short search I found this and pulled the trigger. It's solid, comes with a 5v power supply which I haven't had to use yet. If you somehow want to connect an external hard drive, capture card, or something that uses a lot more power, chances are you're protected. My only complaint is that the two thick cables they include are a bit short. 1.5 feet is my best estimate, so be prepared to use an extension cord to connect to your devices. Originally I only cared about using my keyboard, but today I decided to rip out a spare USB 3 hub to see how well it works so I can use my mouse as well. Works great. Now I can easily switch between both machines with the push of a button. I am very happy with this purchase and recommend this item to everyone. A++
