Got this to reduce smoke for my roommate. I chose this option as a means of appeasement, not expecting it to make a difference. The day after I started he noticed he had a lot fewer smoking problems. what came with it will be strong. I added an extra charcoal filter to help a little, but only standard foam and HEPA would do. Vibrations are surprisingly low on this device. You can feel it when you touch the headboard, but it's not essential. The noise level is amazing. Even on the maximum fan setting, it's not loud enough to be intrusive, despite holding it a few feet from my head. You might want the TV to be a volume or two up than without it, but only on the highest setting. at medium settings, which are recommended in the accompanying documents, this is not at all noticeable at normal household noise levels. For something I expected to see replaced later by a larger and more expensive model, I'm incredibly happy with this little thing. means moving enough air to be used as a general household filter, but for a room it's very good even if there are two smokers in that room. this is way better than i was hoping for.
