Uses the basic kit for a 7x8 barn. I bought the materials on Saturday morning and the unpainted barn was ready on Saturday evening when the four of us worked about 8 hours. Two of us caulked the joints and painted the next day on Sunday. They *will* cut corners on the boards and they include a metal guide to mark the cuts - so DO NOT think "no cutting required" as corner cuts are required. Properly used brackets create strong connections. In the materials list, I cut out the unused boards, but I made enough design changes to use the materials. I used 100% (2) packs of roofing shingles to cover 64 square feet - I need to add ridge shingles to finish it. Some of the boards on the blueprints are labeled incorrectly - in one place the "cc" board should actually have a "c" board and length, in another case the blueprint says the board should be 7ft 9in , but it's not like that. . should actually be 79 inches. Do yourself a favor and only cut boards when you intend to use them. This will save you from madness later. Also don't expect the directions to give clear directions for the corners as they don't and they are confusing. The good news is that I've been a lay builder for most of my life and have used speed squared to get things done. As you will see, I added a window (about $48 at a big store) and changed the design of the door from a 48" door to a pair of 24" doors because I liked the design better. Your mileage may vary. If you're an experienced builder and need to take down a barn over the weekend, this is for you. If you've never built a barn before I want to balance the expectations: you need to go slow, methodical, step by step and probably find some videos etc to help you get a good result. It will require patience and perseverance. All along with lumber, kit, concrete blocks, paint, screws and nails, roofing materials, window and door hardware, gable and roof vents, etc. I think I have $800 for a finished 7x8 barn, but only because I have all the tools who I need and friends willing to help me on a Saturday.
