Your feet get wet and then your body heat warms the water in the sock. Then it feels like wading in warm jelly, or coming in from the country it feels like sticking your foot in a fresh cowpat. To be honest they worked but the only reason they are available is so you can slip your wader on for ankle support and traction. Otherwise the old sneakers would have been just as good.
