When I ordered these heel socks I didn't even know they had a silicone heel insert inside, but this feature is a nice bonus as it really helps lock in your moisturizer. Anyway, to try and fix my dry, cracked, and bleeding heels (I picked at the rough spots), I used a pumice stone in the shower to exfoliate any rough spots, then applied some of my usual moisturizer . , and some petroleum jelly to seal it. To prevent my heels from picking and to allow the petroleum jelly to really work, I left these socks on my heels overnight. I have to say that my heels are already much better and softer after just one use. I am impressed. Will definitely use again. I wear a women's size 9 and bought a large size that fits me. My only complaint is that they get my feet pretty hot. It would be better if they were made of lighter material.
