Great for security but will ruin your doors

I have a toddler who just loves opening doors which is giving me a heart attack. Even if he doesn't care about the chemical utility room or locking the back door, I thought that was the perfect solution. After using them for a few weeks he just stopped trying which was great but when I grabbed one that day the braces fell off tearing the paint and everything else with it. My heart sank with that for our new home. I have yet to install a tray on top and I doubt what happened.
