Melting paint, leaking cups, waste of money

I bought this set for my 2 year old daughter to play tea with her older sister in our large children's pool this summer. We were delighted that this kit can actually be taken to the pool or bath. It's a bit small but we were fine with that and she loves it. You get a kettle and two mugs and two cupcakes. The cups have holes in the bottom which is odd because they don't hold the water for long. It's actually made for water features, but they won't let the cup hold water? I'm worried about mold but the cups are open so you can easily dry them so water doesn't stand a chance. Therefore the holes for the cups make no sense. The kettle has holes in the top but doesn't open so you can dry it. That's what worries me about stuck water and mold. Even if you shake it, some water may remain. But my biggest complaint is that the purple paint on the teapot and mug handles is melting! See attached photo. After a few games in the paddling pool, we realized that the side of the kettle was sticky, as were her hands. I looked closely and saw that the paint had melted on her hands and other toys! To ensure this, we did not leave them in the sun for long. They were only outside while we were in the pool, dried and cleaned inside. We've only used them about 5 times and I'm so disappointed. Cheap construction and quality. Will have to throw it away. Skip this sentence. We have a tea set from Melissa and Doug which is much better quality and water resistant.
