Review on πŸ’‘ Sylvania Home Lighting 78103 - Enhanced-Performance Equivalent by Doug Knight

Room color combined with light color

Sylvania LED hasn't had a failure yet, so the quality is there. I just wanted to throw my 2 cents to future lightbulb buyers. Regarding color temperature, while there are a lot of good comments, I wanted others to know that 4100k LEDs are available. I mention this because it's a really nice balance between yellow and white. I've used 3500k in bedrooms (with good results) but 5000k light can't see that well. The problem with 5000k bulbs is that they are off white and almost even coloring the room black and white. And of course 6000k is a cool blue color. However, 4100k is a light you can see well without looking weird. Also, the color of the ceiling has a major impact on lighting with different color temperatures. In my house, there are two rooms next to each other that are painted green, except that one room has a white ceiling and the other has a green ceiling that matches the walls. And in a room with a white ceiling, I can get away with a 5000K lightbulb. It emits a bright white light that illuminates the entire room. But in a room with a green ceiling, the light emitted seems pale in comparison, somehow never bright enough, even if I use 2 light bulbs instead of one. So keep in mind whether your ceiling is painted white or not. Because dark color seems to absorb light. And when light with a high color temperature and limited total light output is used, the end result is a faded appearance. In such rooms you are better off with a lower K light, maybe 4100k or less.

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Unbelievable price
