I'm impressed that the entire unit is made from lightweight and strong aircraft grade aluminum. The plate feels solid in my hand and the ball head snaps securely into place. The base can be rotated 360 degrees and also locks into place. They even included a cold shoe mount on the side. The base measures approximately 1 1/4 inches by 1 1/2 inches. I bought three more bases for all my gear and I am very happy with how easy and simple it is to control the cameras between the slider, handheld gimbal and tripod. I have used other quick plates and mounts but this is by far the best. I would also like to mention that the clasp and buttons are made of durable aluminum. When you hear the click, you'll know you're locked in! Just slide the red latch to prevent accidentally pressing the buttons - another great feature. I would highly recommend it to any photographer/videographer of any level.
