I bought this to connect my computer and Fire Stick to a projector. It works really well for that and still leaves me with another HDMI port for something later like a DVD player or maybe cable TV. I also like that it automatically connects to the projector based on which device "wakes it up". In other words, when I click to wake up my computer, this gadget detects the activity and automatically connects my computer to the projector. If I use a Fire Stick instead, this gadget will automatically point the Fire Stick at my projector. The only time I would have to manually select which device to connect to my projector is when my computer and flash drive are active at the same time. So far this has never happened. Even if it happens frequently, it would hardly be an inconvenience. The select button is small but sensitive, no problem to operate it. People who complain about this in their reviews are extremely picky (and petty?). Just saying ;) Oh, and if you're planning on using this splitter with a Fire Stick and two other devices, you'll probably want to get a Fire Stick connection extension. If not, you probably can't connect 3 devices to it. Luckily I already have the Fire Stick extension and currently don't use 3 devices anyway, but I can see where the problem would be without the extension.
