This 16 gauge extension is designed for outdoor use and is Allied Lockndry compatible on both ends. The female end of the cord has a locking ring that connects to the male connector on the Allied Heated Bird Bath short cord, providing a moisture-tight connection. The male end of this cable is threaded to connect to another Allied Lockndry cable to increase length and create a watertight connection where two cables meet. It can also be used as a regular power strip or plugged into any other standard power strip. It just won't have the moisture and airtight connection that the Lockndry feature offers. I am using this cable to power a 20" API 650 heated bird bath and so far this winter it has maintained a weatherproof connection through rain and snow. I had no trouble using the GFCI breaker to disable external outlets. Due to humidity it was quite expensive for a 25ft extension but seems to work as intended so I think it was worth it. slightly longer than the standard plug found in most general purpose power strips. Use an outlet cap, the cap must be at least 2-3/4 inches deep inside or it will not close. I originally installed a 2-1/2" deep cover on the outlet that worked fine with standard extension cords, but wasn't deep enough to close with the Lockndry cable plugged in, so I had to get it through the deeper cover of the model.
